Just
the name conjures up thoughts of matadors and bullfights, Spanish
guitar music, sidewalk cafes, and wonderful Mediterranean cuisine.
And, yes, all that is part of this amazing culture. But Spain is
also a nation in desperate need of Christ. While Catholic by tradition,
most Spaniards have little or no place in their lives for God.
Less than ½ of 1 percent are evangelical Christians who have
a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
The religious belief pattern is secularism, in a country where materialism
and self-gratification reign supreme.

Yet in the midst of a prosperous
nation lie a people lost without Christ, searching to fill a God-sized
hole with money, possessions, prestige, career, family, friendships,
alcohol, sex, drugs and much more.
Caught up in this unfulfilling cycle are the university
students – seeking to discover who they are in a nation where
far too few people are offering the one Truth – Jesus Christ.
It has been said that it is more likely for a practicing Muslim
in the Middle East to come to know Christ, than for a Spaniard to
surrender their life to the Lord. |
