Prayerwalking the Campus of "La Universidad Autónoma"

Roughly 27,000 students study at La Autónoma, as this public university is often called. The university boasts a variety of majors and also hosts a considerable number of foreign students each semester.

“Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving; praying at the same time for us as well, that God will open up to us a door for the word, so that we may speak forth the mystery of Christ …” Colossians 4:2-3

1. Cercanías train station at La Autónoma
“And it shall be in the last days,” God says, “That I will pour forth of My Spirit on all mankind.”
Acts 2:17a

As we stand by the train station, pray for the students and professors who come to and from the university daily. Ask the Lord to “pour forth of His Spirit” upon each person who walks through this station. Pray that God will speak through the people who know Him.

2. Grassy areas for relaxing and fellowship
The many grassy areas on campus are where students hang out between classes. Ask God to place individuals who bear His name among these groups of students. Pray He would use students’ desires for acceptance, unity, communication, and friendship to open doors for Truth to be shared. Petition for believers to find favor in the eyes of these not-yet-believers and that God would raise up more followers of Christ.

… I am sending you, to open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the dominion of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who have been sanctified by faith in Me.”
Acts 26:17b-18

3. Facultad de Psicología (School of Psychology), Facultad de Ciencias (School of Biology), and Facultad de Derecho (School of Law)
As we pass the psychology building, pray that students there will come to know the only One Who truly knows our hearts and minds.

“And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him.” Hebrews 4:13

La Calle de Darwin (Darwin Street) runs by the science department. Ask for students to see God’s hand in nature. Ask for false ideas and theories to be put to shame before the truth.

“Worthy are You, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and because of Your will they existed, and were created.” Revelation 4:11

As we approach the law school, pray that God would write His law on the hearts of students. Ask that as they study new laws, the original laws of the Lord will be discovered, and by this students will come to know Christ.

4. Facultades de Ciencias, Ciencias Económicas y Empresariales, Formación de Profesorado y Educación, and Filosofía y Letras
(Schools of Sciences, Economics and Business, Education and Philosophy and Language)

Facing the buildings where science, economics, and business are taught, ask the Lord to raise up students to take the Word into the work force. Pray for God to strategically place believers in the lives of these students – believers who will gain the respect of their peers and show them what a Christ-like person looks like in the world.

“For you were formerly darkness, but now you are Light in the Lord; walk as children of Light.” Ephesians 5:8

Standing in front of the education, philosophy, and language building, petition for students to be drawn to the Lord. Ask that God would place people in their lives that know Him and will show them the beauty of being set apart for Christ. Pray for students to see the difference in believers as what they’ve been searching for to meet their needs.

“For this is the will of God, your sanctification ...”
I Thessalonians 4:3

5. The return to the train station
As we walk back to the train station, ask God to establish various groups of The English Connection on campus. Ask that He will connect believers with not-yet-believers through these groups or by language partners, etc. Pray that friendship, trust, respect, and openness will characterize these connections.

Ask the omnipotent God to break down barriers that stand between the hearts of these students and the gospel. Petition for the believers involved to be salt and light through their speech and actions, and that they will be bold and seize the opportunities they are given.

“Conduct yourself with wisdom toward outsiders, making the most of the opportunity.”
Colossians 4:5

CONCLUSION:
Join the SyncroNations team in praying these Scriptures over the Autónoma campus as we conclude this online prayerwalk:

Look among the nations! Observe! Be astonished! Wonder! Because I am doing something in your days – you would not believe if you were told … For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.” Habakkuk 1:5, 2:14

“But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord.”
I Corinthians 15:57-58
